“Meatco’s Journey with Emydex started 13 years ago in mid-2011, when we were looking to replace our then ageing Production System. After much research, Emydex was the obvious choice as they could utilise our current hardware which significantly reduced our total cost of ownership.

Meatco was then the first plant to have Emydex installed in Africa, which came with its own challenges, but Emydex approached each challenge professionally, and no task was too big or too small. Over the past 13 years Emydex’s support and dedication was/is unwavering, and they have always been willing to assist where needed, whether it be in support or development of new products. Currently we have Emydex installed at eight of our plants spread across Namibia.

Emydex is a Fit for Purpose product that complements our business. With Dave, James, and the Emydex team, our customers have confidence in our product, knowing that we can fully guarantee the quality and trace our products from farm to fork. We look forward to many more Fruitful years with Emydex by our side.”

About MEATCO

The Meat Corporation of Namibia (‘MeatCo’) is Namibia’s largest Beef processing organisation, operating four beef processing plants within the region including Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. The two year, Euro 300k contract includes Emydex system rollouts to Meatco’s two export approved slaughter and boning plants in Windhoek and Okahandja, as well as two further non-export abattoirs in Katima and Oshakati that are owned by the Namibian government but managed by Meatco.

Emydex went live in the Windhoek beef deboning plant in March 2014, which was the first of an eight-phase project that will see Emydex systems rolled out across MeatCo’s six beef processing operations, that includes a Wholesale beef processing plant and a cannery, both on the Windhoek site, as well as integrating to the Table Bay Cold Store in South Africa.

“Liffey Meats have been working with Emdyex for almost 14 years, our first project being to install an Emdyex system into our Beef abattoir in Ballinasloe back in 2011. The system, still in operation today, incorporates lairage bookings, sequencing, and grading terminals, as well an offal packing, carcass dispatch station, also a Beef Payments system with real-time links back to our main boning hall plant in BallyJamesduff. ​

A few years later, we installed Emdyex door-to-door in a second plant, our value-added operation in BallyJamesduff, a plant that produces a range of value-added products. The benefits of this system are; efficiency and productivity, data management and analysis, scalability and flexibility and continuous improvement.​

 ​Having worked with Dave and his team for the past 14 years, I can say the key difference with Emdyex is their ‘can do’ attitude. Every meat processor has different wants and needs. With Emdyex, they have the experience of having worked with other processors around the world and can advise as to best deliver a working solution that fulfils our needs. ​

Liffey Meats specialise in beef processing, de-boning value-added manufacturing for thefoodservice and retail sector. Liffey's main beef factory is in Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. The group also operates two further beef slaughtering plants in Hacketstown and Ballinasloe.

“Due to customer demands for full traceability Interfrigo teamed up with Emydex in 2010 to build a Warehouse Management system tailored to suit Interfrigo’ s business needs.  This enabled Interfrigo to offer its customers complete traceability and transparency when moving their stock through the cold store process, from blast freezing, pallet rebuild to dispatch.  This put Interfrigo in a unique position to offer full case level traceability from farm to frozen dispatch.​

​Operationally scanner and fork truck software was built enabling Interfrigo the ability to monitor and move stock more efficiently through the warehouse, capturing each stock movement through the process.​

​Since we have joined up with Emydex back in 2010 it has given us and our customers the confidence to grow and storage capacity has doubled from 10, 000 pallet spaces to 20,000.  This wouldn’t have been possible without the flexibility and understanding shown by Emydex in helping Interfrigo expand and move forward. We look forward to many more years of working together.”

About INTERFRIGO

Interfrigo is the largest independent cold store in Northern Ireland, operating a 136,000 sq ft state-of-the-art cold store with storage capacity for 20,000 pallets.

Interfrigo provides third party cold storage for a number of local and international food producers, including many of Emydex’s food processing customers. With Emydex’s ‘Intersite-transfers’ feature, Interfrigo customers also running Emydex are able to dispatch and trace shipments into and out of the Interfrigo Cold Store seamlessly.

“The Emydex team have been with us on our business development journey over the last 13 years. From the outset, Dave and his team managed to put us at ease with their ‘can-do’ attitude. By mid-2011 we had successfully implemented Emydex modules across our slaughter, animal payments, packing and dispatch functions. Later in 2013, we rolled-out Emydex to our deboning, packing, storage and dispatch facility.

More recently, Emydex were also there to support our business in the immediate aftermath of a cyber-attack on the business in Sept 2021. With their knowledge, expertise and assistance, no data was lost. We were able to restore systems, get back up and running to resume production in 2 days. This was a phenomenal result to say the least.

A major component to our ongoing excellent relationship with Emydex has been the retention of key staff in both of our businesses. With Dave, James, Lorna, and Stephen all being involved since the very beginning, this has allowed a long and lasting business relationship to continue to this day. Emydex has always provided us with any support needed via their helpdesk support team. 13 years on, we In Euro Farms look forward to continuing to work and partner with Emydex into 2024 and beyond.”

About EURO FARM FOODS

Euro Farm Foods was established in 2001 by Michael and Agnes Fox. It initially operated as a small local abattoir outside Duleek in County Meath supplying carcass beef and lamb to the local butcher trade and into the Dublin market.

Following substantial investment by the owners in 2002-2003, further major investment in the expansion of the business came later in 2012-2013, with the construction of a new deboning hall, amenity block, additional chilling capacity and office space.

An independently owned business, Euro Farm Foods achieved approval to export boneless meat to China (PRC) in October 2019.

Started in 1986 Dawn Pork & Bacon’s operation consists of pork slaughtering through to deboning. Dawn Pork & Bacon provides pork products to customers in countries worldwide including mainland Europe, Japan, Korea, USA, Russia and Ireland.

An Emydex customer since 2006, Dawn Pork and Bacon use Emydex software for packing, warehousing and dispatch, as well as sales order processing and yield reporting through delivery of a full set of Yield reports specifically customised for Dawn Pork & Bacon’s requirements.

The company approached Emydex when its previous system had become outdated and expensive to run.
